Background: Miramar Sister City International

Sister Cities International (SCI) is a nonprofit citizen diplomacy network that creates and strengthens partnerships between communities in the United States and those in other countries. The City of Miramar is a member of SCI and has an active program led by an advisory board that makes recommendations to elected officials on potential partnerships. The Miramar Sister Cities Board was established through the adoption of Ordinance No. 22-01 on October 3, 2021

The Miramar Sister City International Program is part of the broader Sister Cities International initiative, established in 1956 by President Dwight D. Eisenhower. This program fosters relationships between cities worldwide to promote cultural exchange, economic cooperation, and mutual understanding. The City of Miramar has embraced this global initiative to build partnerships with cities across various nations, enriching its community through cultural diplomacy and collaboration.
