Miramar Commission Visit to Barraterre, Exuma
On April 3, 2025, Commissioner Avril K. Cherasard of Miramar, Florida, received an invitation to be the guest of honor at the 40th Annual Barraterre Homecoming Festival & Regatta, scheduled for June 5–9, 2025. Commissioner Cherasard was to be presented with the Key to the City of Barraterre. Her participation was an honor to the people of Barraterre, Exuma, recognizing her historic election as the first Bahamian-American female City Commissioner. The event celebrated shared values of unity, heritage, and leadership, and served as a bridge between the City of Barraterre and the City of Miramar.

Goals:
- Strengthen Cultural and Diaspora Connections: To honor and deepen the ties between the Bahamian diaspora in the City of Miramar and the community of Barraterre, fostering cultural pride and mutual support.

- Advance City-to-Community Partnerships: To explore opportunities for collaboration between the City of Miramar and Barraterre in areas such as youth programs, cultural exchanges, and economic development.
