NOTICE OF FUNDING AVAILABILITY

STATE HOUSING INITIATIVES PARTNERSHIP (SHIP)

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT (CDBG)

FISCAL YEAR 2026-2027

The City of Miramar announces the availability of approximately $976,469.00 in SHIP and $828,571 in CDBG funding for the following programs:

MINOR HOME REPAIR PROGRAM

The Minor Home Repair program provides eligible households with deferred loan assistance, up to $70,000 to correct building code violations, make barrier-free modifications, install hurricane protection, address weatherization improvements, promote energy efficiency/conservation, and address other minor home repairs to owner-occupied properties in the City. Available to very low, low, and moderate-income households up to 120% Area Median Income (AMI). Priority will be given to households with special needs, very low to low-income, that is 80% AMI and below households.

PURCHASE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

Purchase Assistance funds will be made available to income-eligible very low, low, and moderate-income first-time homebuyers with the goal of expanding homeownership opportunities to these identified targeted income groups. A maximum deferred payment loan up to $90,000 can be applied towards down payment, closing costs, and first mortgage reduction, for the purchase of eligible owner- occupied housing in the City of Miramar.

FORECLOSURE PREVENTION PROGRAM

The Foreclosure prevention program provides qualified homeowners with the opportunity to avoid foreclosures and retain their homes. The program is designed to assist households that need immediate financial assistance to either stop their homes from being foreclosed or sold for non-payment of mortgage and/or assessments. The maximum deferred loan award amount is $10,000. Evidence that mortgage or fees are more than 60 but less than 90 days late is required, as reflected by the most current mortgage statement or applicable statement. Properties with Lis Pendens are not eligible.

RENTAL ASSISTANCE

The Rental Assistance program provides upfront financial assistance for very low, low, and moderate-income households to obtain quality, safe, decent, and affordable rental housing within the city. The program assists eligible households with first/last/security deposit and/or utilities connection only. The maximum grant award is $8,000.

HOW TO APPLY

 

MINOR HOME REPAIR PROGRAM. Residents interested in the Minor Home Repair Program are invited to apply via Neighborly, the City’s electronic application portal, beginning 9:00 AM on Monday, August 31st, 2026 through 5:00 PM, Thursday, October 1st, 2026, or upon receipt of the first one hundred (100) applications, whichever comes first. Prior application versions will not be considered.

 

ALL OTHER PROGRAMS. Applications for Rental Assistance, Foreclosure Prevention, and Purchase Assistance, will open after October 1, 2026. The opening dates will be advertised on the City’s website and shared on the City’s social media outlets.

NOTE: Applications will be processed on a first-come, first-qualified, first-served basis.  

 

Assistance with application submission will be provided on an appointment basis only after the application portal is open. Appointments can be scheduled by contacting the Housing Division at (954) 883-5030 or via e-mail at housing@Miramarfl.gov.

 

Priority will be given to applicants with special needs, including households where a child has developmental disabilities, applicants who live independently with a disabling condition, individuals receiving disability benefits, and other applicants who meet the special needs criteria. Priority consideration shall extend until such time as regulatory funding set asides have been met. Following the satisfaction of regulatory set asides, the City may elect to continue to give priority to special needs households, with preference given to applicants already approved and awaiting funding.
