FOR SENIORS: Roof and A/C Repairs

The City of Miramar has established the Senior Emergency Funding Assistance (SEFA) Program to expand financing options for senior homeowners who need critical roof repairs and/or air conditioner (A/C) repair or replacement.

Program Guidelines

Assistance of $5,000 and below is provided in the form of a grant; however, for any assistance above $5,000, a lien will be placed on the homeowner’s property for the amount invested. The lien will remain in effect for a period of ten (10) years. 

Homeowners are responsible for selecting licensed contractors to complete the approved scope of work and must submit three (3) quotes for city review.

Program Eligibility 

  1. Seniors 60 years and older
  2. Gross household incomes up to 120% of the Area Median Income (AMI) are eligible to participate.
  3. Property must be the applicant’s primary residence (homestead) and located in the City of Miramar
  4. A soft second lien will be recorded with Broward County
  5. Scope of Work is limited to Roof and A/C

To Apply

Interested homeowners must submit to housing@miramarfl.gov:

  1. Complete Application  SEFA-Application-Fillable.pdf(PDF, 1MB)
  2. Proof of Ownership- Deed
  3. Identification-Government issued
  4. Most Recent Bank Statement
  5. Homeowners Insurance Declaration Page plus copy of any claims in the last three (3) years if applicable
  6.  Three (3) Quotes for the scope of work
